Salsa Con Gusto - Keele University

Salsa Con Gusto dance company is run by Jenny Oliver (UKA Licentiate). Jenny first started taking Salsa classes at Bath University in 1999 and very quickly became hooked. The following year she set up the Bath University Salsa Society, organising dance nights and guest workshops for members and local salseros/as. As well as partnering various local teachers and visiting guest instructors, Jenny also began to do more and more teaching in her own right.

A UKA qualified instructor since 2007, Jenny founded her own dance company, Salsa Con Gusto, in 2009. She currently teaches dance classes (Salsa, La Rueda, Bachata etc.) and runs monthly party nights at Keele University.

In her classes Jenny likes to focus on getting the basics right, and uses her experience as both a leader and a follower to help her students develop good leading / following technique. At the same time the emphasis is firmly on the social nature of salsa dancing and having fun on the dance floor.

Join us for our 50th event mega party weekend! This site in Suffolk is smaller than Brean or Blackpool and is half board centre. We have sole occupancy. This year we move away from the salsa & Latin-American mix (see West Coast Latin in December for this), and offer you instead Argentine Tango, Lamba-Zouk and Bachata as the additional styles. Other changes include a beginners salsa course, plus mambo (“on 2”) for beginners and improvers. Remember to wear gold for our Sat. Ball!

During the daytime the Claverton Rooms is the Senior Common Room.

In the evening once the dance areas are cleared, the lights turned down and the music starts, it becomes the perfect salsa venue.
3 interconnected dance areas with wall to wall, 'quality' wooden dance surfaces. The dance areas are separated for the classes with individual music systems and teachers. Two of the dance areas are combined into the main dance floor allowing 'space' for 200 dancers simultaneously during the evening party period.
Cheap 'Student price' bar, open till 2.00am.
Fantastic, Friendly atmosphere, with the best sounding music system around.
Unlimited FREE parking spaces, the first 60 under cover, the rest in well lit and security monitored car parks.
